Lip Service
What a weekend! :) Good food, great company. Its good to spend time with parents and relearn more about each other after being separated for so long. Hearing their point of views certainly brings some light to other matters.
I'm in a bit of a fix now. 2 minds. Got to stay still and be quiet for some guidance. I've been more of a tornado than anything else lately. Reorganise and regroup at the base, dammit!
Uncle Victor's really cool though. He got me this car seat cooler thing. No more hot ass on long road trips, yay! :)

Saya
I think, therefore I am. If I were to be a byproduct of the goo-to-you theory, there is no such thing as conscience. There would be no emotions. No feelings. A tabula rasa that does what is essential to survive.
Billions of years have passed. Somehow, in a strange way, certain composition of chemicals with the correct amount of heat and light, have created a cell. Its no ordinary cell - its a living cell! With all its survival functions intact.
And then with lots of mistakes over and over - it learns how to eat. How to breathe. How to shit. Lollerskating! And we have trees and bees and humans and blue whales and what-not today. All from the single cell that learnt having sex with oneself is no fun. Not at all!
Either that or you could choose to believe in intelligent design. A Creator.
I'm off for a RM9 buffet dim sum dinner now :P

It's 2005 already...?!1?!
Life with parents. Under the same roof, it lends a different kind of tranquility. Nearly everything was up to the 3M Principle (Mom's Meticulous MethodsĀ®) of cleaning the house, save for a rather sweat soaked pillowcase and bedsheet, thanks to our hot tropical nights for these :P
Hmmm haven't met Lian and Ju Mei for ages, so Dawn and I scheduled a rendezvous at Faces last Friday. Everything was cool, everyone looked as hot as ever. Food was ok, apparently there's still this fear of eating seafood just in case your fish's belly contained a human finger or two ;) It was quite an eye-opening night, and we had a really great time catching up on old news.
Caught a 3 hour sleep before I went for my morning hike on Saturday. Did the 3-5-39 thing, with plenty of pit stops. There was this bunch of monkeys having an orgy at Moongate 5 on top of a rock. Big Badass Monkey chased away his spawn (he was the only old geezer) only for some of his 'ginah' belakang mari his woman. Pretty hilarious social interaction, and much better than Saturday morning cartoons. How come there're so many young monkeys around? Could there be nothing better to do than have sex every single morning? Oh yeah, I forgot - they don't have work to tend to other than being fed by IRRESPONSIBLE, ILLITERATE PEOPLE who feed the monkeys in front of a huge sign that states blatantly - "DON'T FEED THEM MONKEYS, F00! (or a fine will follow)".
Try 1 part Guinness, 1 part Tiger, 1 raw chicken egg (with yolk intact), and chase it down it a <insert liquor of your choice>. Pretty zany stuff! Does wonders for the body - unless you're on some Prozac/Xanax/anti-depressants, you'll have a really great sleep and feel refreshed the next morning :) At least I was, hah!
Since Brad Pitt and Jeniffer Anniston have headed for Splitsville, I wonder who gets the Guinness tap that they installed in their $13M mansion...

Honour Thy Parents
Honour thy parents. If they are nice to you. If they buy you a tyre-sizzling M3 on your 21st birthday. If they buy you the latest gadgets and submit at your every whim.
Unfortunately not.
What does this commandment mean, then? There is no clause for exceptions in this case - no matter what the parents has done or missed out on in your life. Of course, no matter what happens to you, there is a choice of how you're going to react to that. Crux of the matter is, its so much easier to sidestep the issue and shift the blame - the environment, your peers, your friends, God, parents, etc.
This takes a whole lot of pondering. I think the Asian context of 'honour' when it comes to parent-child relationships are frequently abused. Emotional blackmail is practised, leaving the child seething in anger/pain/fear. How does one honour one's parents then? Does it mean taking in all the wrong things without making a stand for what is right? Doubtful. How about lovingly rebuke one's mistakes. Its hard enough to do it to a friend because everyone doesn't want to be the fall guy, but to one's parents?
"I haven't eaten your rice yet!"
"I have taken more salt than you!"
"(in thought) I paid for your education, thus I tell you what you want to study - (reality) Psychology's not a good idea - how to cari makan? Do Engineering instead!"
I'm still seeking out how to fulfil this to the fullest. Honour. Hmmm. Sometimes, its best to take some time off from opposing thoughts. Desire to change and work for the greater benefit must always come before personal interests. Then again, that depends on the person's principles.
Which leads us to principles and values. Again! The inescapable fact that life is shaped around these pillars. Right principles and values will bring life to anyone. If anyone's looking for wisdom, read Proverbs. Its chillingly real. 1 chapter a day to correspond with the date, since there are a total of 31 chapters in all. Food for thought eh? ;)

Lectures
Ever since my accident last year in May, my old man always greets me with a "Don't drink so much!" on the phone - either at the beginning or at the end of any conversation. It gets sticky after a while, but that's the price to pay for a moment of gross miscalculation (on the lady driver's part, I might add...heh. Just kidding. I was speeding at 80km/h in a 60km/h zone).
I received an earful on Saturday morning as well regarding how drinking affects the liver, kidneys, and general well-being. It starts off with "The first symptom of an alcoholic is denial", rattled off by more eloquent remarks. The indignity of it all!
Parental units F & M are returning to base this Saturday. All units have been informed that an impromptu clean-up operation will be held on Tuesday and Thursday in order to avoid excessive "love lectures" from any future fallout.
Fast-forward 3 months, and the entire landscape will change. I cannot wait for it :)
