Nearer
Pygmy's birthday is creeping up as the minutes waste away, while irrationality and prudence keep on pounding at each other. Nothing a quick trip to MPH later this evening cannot fix...I hope Florence Littauer makes interesting reading material and a life-changing difference to the new owner.

There was some progress when it came to communication with dad last night, although I'm not too sure whether he has learnt to admit when he's wrong and not use the typical Chinese Parent ReparteeĀ®, "I've eaten more salt than you!" Maybe he doesn't realise it after all this time, but we'll see where it goes from here. I'll do what I can on my part to the best of my ability and leave the rest to the Almighty.

Let's look at the list of things to do this weekend...call HK on Friday, watch Arsenal stretch their fenominel unbitten run, perhaps sneak in an hour or two of gaming, recuperate at home, tend to household chores - ah, the days are just packed. Oh yes, start Neopetting as well! :)

Reading up on Chinese history surely makes time fly. What I'm currently contemplating now is an alternate universe where the Han Dynasty and the Roman Empire meet each other in the middle of Asia. Rome's time started from 27BC - AD312, while the mighty Han Dynasty stood from 206BC - 24AD. Both had around equal amounts of land, and had either side expanded their territory in between 27BC and 24AD, they would've met between Europe and Asia. Imagine the possibilities!

Both powers considered the outside world as barbarians, and their mission was to civilise them through assimilation. The disciplined Roman Army versus the skilled Chinese warriors, what a battle that would've been! The victor will never be in doubt, and the angmohs would be speaking in Mandarin today had they met then. China held the 4 Great Inventions (not the wheel, mind you :P) - Paper, Printing, Gunpowder, and the Compass. Of course, I'm ashamed to say that my ancestors used gunpowder to power fireworks while the European (barbarians, heh) improvised it in the form of guns and cannons. Nontheless, with paper and printing, the Chinese could've launched a massive propaganda campaign against the Romans (ala modern communist methods), and with Gunpowdered-flaming-arrows, invincible martial arts warriors and the compass to know which direction to attack the enemy at, I cannot forsee anything else but a glorious victory.

Alas it never came to be, and all I can do now is reflect on what could have been. Maybe someone can come up with a fictional world and put their ideas to paper in the form of a novel or comic, it doesn't matter. Interesting thoughts eh, this is a Descendant of the Dragon signing off :)

p.s. Another interesting scenario would be the Chinese dragon fighting against the Western dragon, we Chinese have only 7 dragons, 1 to control each ocean in the world. There's a weakness in the Oriental lizards though, all you have to do is to throw a ball at it and they'll drop whatever they're doing there and then just to chase the ball ;)

p.p.s. Iob dun hate me for this post! I know there's no drama whatsoever but still...! Pass me ur Neopet account k :)

Neopetting
Should I get sucked into the world of Neopets? Frankly I'm not too sure if I'll get any satisfaction from it, but belum cuba belum tahu eh? I'm trying to unbore my life, because Iob finds it irritating that I just don't have any drama or juicy tales to tell her other than the occasional misfortunes. Will Neopets be another Archmage experience, counting down minutes to the turn?

Just discovered that one can go to Rifle Range from Youth Park through the hills...and there are more than 20 routes to Penang Hill! Its gonna take a couple of decades to familiarize myself with all those routes, and then I can tell those young cikus 20 years later that lim pek can close his eyes and hike up backwards without any problems whatsoever :P

Saw the same old man (found out he's called Lee) who asked me a few weeks' back whether there were anyone at the summit, and this morning he was breathing rather heavily on the way up. Maybe his 3 nubile young 'uns didn't want to follow him up, so he had to be his natural self and labour for each breath :P or am I jumping the gun here? Heh.

:)
What a fantastic weekend! The weather was great, although God could send more clouds and wind to this part of the equator, its still too hot! Did reach resting point 84 on Saturday, and I was overlooking this picturesque scene of a quaint little hut amidst sprawling grass, with clumps of really tall bamboo growing around the place. There was some mist as well that made the area look like something out of a samurai movie - you know, them blindfolded samurais practising their swordplay amidst bamboo, swashbuckling away without a care in the world.

There was a damper in the entire situation though, as I heard a dog barking incessantly at 84. Thought it was trying to ward off "trespassers" to the area, but looking toward the general direction of those barks, I saw a tail sticking out of a rather deep ravine. Snaked my way down toward the Hole of Doom, but the pooch-in-distress backed off and retreated deeper into the hole. Didn't have any meat with me to coax it out, so I tried to mumble some voodoo incantations but that failed as well. Since it was too proud to receive any help, I left the area. When I reached the top, that sonofabitch started whining and barking away. Basket! Hopefully someone who's familiar with it will be able to rescue it, if not, that would be a waste of some deliciously hot dog-soup.

Weather yesterday evening was extra-windy, and many-a-tree fell along Air Itam, causing some minor jams. Did make it home in time to catch the trilogy of matches on ESPN, and twas great to see Shearer thwarting Ranieri's men, that was a really good match. Arsenal wrapped up the Premiership with another masterclass display in the first half :D The first team to ever win the league title unbeaten, its time to go get the unbeaten season! :) Bring on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, the celebrations at Highbury are going to take more than 3 days to finish.

Peanuts and Mangkis
Hmm another power trip in the office. Its a curse, I tell you, with the power trips occuring once every few months. At least its a Friday, maybe them technicians will get it sorted out. All that is secondary though, as it is imperative the A/C does not shut down! :P

Weekend's upon us again, so many things to do and so many people to see! Am looking forward to Q3DM4 though :) Tis been postponed to the first week of May, but its all good, because that means the entire designated day can be used for mindless orc-bashing and tower building! I hope I won't leak like a broken faucet :|

Am currently running repeats on Josh Groban :P Can't seem to get that tune outta my head today, and I don't know why. Maybe Becky has cursed me with her brand of witchcraft...I still prefer Vonda Shephard's version of "You Belong To Me" than Jason Wade's one though ;) But twas a different experience, thanks!

One Hit Wonders, anyone? Lyrics to the most memorable songs to come out recently, all the way from the Kok's favourite (Blue - Eiffel 65) to Vanilla "White Man Rappin'" Ice.

I realised that the human spirit cannot be surpressed easily, when the shit hits the fan, even the most timid of us are capable of being giants in their own way. What a grand design we live in, even with the taint of Adam the original good still remains in us. Totally amazed by grace :)

Hmm I just noticed that the headphones I'm currently using are the very same ones that Nael, Pesky, and I bought that fateful day so many years ago, as aspiring gamers. Its lasted so long! :D Just thinking of the past sends shivers down my spine, but its time to return the book to its place and head off to the door. Memories are a powerful thing when coupled with emotions, and I really treasured all those zany zug-zug times. Bah. So soppy today. Maybe its the sense of inferiority whenever I have the shadow of Iobs hovering behind my back.

Happy laughing, Loyal :)

The flaw in the clay

Wowzers. Change is painful and hard. Yet attainable, if I steels himself with focus. Better start now when my precious brain (due to its lack of use) has some malleability left in it. I need divine intervention to throw away some bad habits and prejudiced thinking - HELP! Spiff was right in his advice, so was YK. Gotta learn to let go, doggone it!

Backing away from people isn't the solution, and doing the same thing each time while expecting a different result would be madness. Like everything else in life, it has to be done one step at a time in order to get it right in the end.

I'm right now shopping for some patience, kindness, humility, perseverance, understanding, empathy, tolerance, and love. Of course, there are many more items to get, but I'll concentrate on the above first.

Currently having a free giveaway on prejudice, bigotry, impatience, maliciousness, and plain ol' stubborness. Any takers?

Will be heading up to 84 this weekend, its another personal milestone! Of course, the massage session after all that torture makes it so much sweeter :) The bliss! *ahhhh*

Insert Title HERE!
Booties in the city! Help! I'm getting stalked by this Malay girl. Not quite sure how she got my number, but she can't speak no Engrish! I wish Hotlink had a function to block incoming numbers :(

I'm currently staring at an unopened pack of Nissin Cup Noodles. Now that's some good shit when it comes to mee-in-a-cup. Its of seafood curry flavour, and is the best tasting among the lot. Chilli crab comes second, but seafood curry rocks my socks off :P~~ There's real seafood inside...all you gotta do is wait for 3 minutes and then tuck in! I'm saving it up for a special occasion in the office - the next one will probably be in June or July, when my boss's wife gives bitrh to a son. I can see that it will be a night where I'll keep on walking...

OK back to some Crystal Reports *yucks* laters~!

Berkeirritatingan
I discovered something interesting last night about myself, a truth that I previously hid behind a mask of pride. Deep down inside, I'm a racist. I have a lot of bitterness toward the current situation in Malaysia where there is an rather unreasonable amount of inequality amongst the races here. There is a sense of injustice burning within me, but nobody wants to rock the boat. Maybe I've channeled my views using the wrong kinds of words or statements, I'm not sure, but it sure is painful to admit that I'm a racist. Now that that's settled, there are issues to work on and lots more to achieve! :D

I believe if a situation is wrong, one can do something about it other than just sitting down and complaining about it (which was what I had been doing for a pretty damned long time :P). Everyday I can make a choice - and by throwing everything to God without doing anything about it, nothing is going to happen. If that were the case I might as well sit down and stop breathing ;) Guess its time to reorientate my goals and dreams toward something more workable instead of something bitchable.

Another thing that really got my goat are the following comments from the recently assasinated terrorist, a certain Rantisi.

From the mourning tent, Adnan Rantisi, 50, said his brother had been granted that wish. "He wanted to die a martyr, and he did. I am happy that he is in heaven now, but I am sad that I will never see him again," he said.

What did he mean by he will never see his brother again? Could it be that Mr. Adnan Rantisi is not willing to take the path of a martyr?

"God willing, he will be soon avenged by God and the Muslim people. There are a thousand people ready to take my brother's place in Hamas. And Hamas is not led by men but by God," he said.

Now I'm not too sure what he's ranting about because God would not act contradictarily to his nature.

Notice how Palestinians are so keen on suicide bombing, and yet the leaders do not send out their own kin to perform the dastardly deed. Instead, they send other people's kids to do the dirty job. Its marvellous what a couple of dollars can do to change one's mind.

I will not just sit back and accept whatever things are at the current moment, I choose to do something about it. Leaving it all to God is unfair and frees me from being responsible to my fellow-men, but I've been doing it the wrong way all this while. Time to take a back seat and look at the bigger picture in order to get a clearer focus. Thanks David for pointing out certain points last night :) Really appreciate it!

Principalities
Its drizzling outside after many potong-stim days of sky constipation. Unfortunately, the sun's still out and that wretched smell from the road has crept to my nose. Hopefully I won't pick up a migraine later on tonight - I just want to have a really good rest.

I really need to improve on my communication skills. Clarify expectations on both sides and then only move into an issue with the relevant points. Most of the time people just assume, and that's a really bad habit that I've got to snap out of. Its wasting too much of my time backtracking and its inefficiency might actually reveal my lack of depth :P

I'm currently undergoing the painful process of accepting the fact that everything comes with a price, and I cannot have my entire plate of Fried Koay Teow and eat it, too :( I knew there was a catch!

Since we're on food at the moment, there's this lovely recipe of dipping some char siew in some yellowy, pasty sauce. I'm not quite sure what its called, but it tastes like mustard and its nearly as spicy as wasabi. Amazing stuff! Couldn't really get enough of it this noon, but all good things grind to a halt eventually, and as I referred to the above-mentioned rules, feelings of disappointment melted away :D

Saw a Porsche Cayenne today, registered WKV 1. It looked amazing! Totally beautiful, much better than the XC90 but losing out to the X5. Its front was just jaw-dropping, but hunger prevented me from hanging round the car any longer than necessary :P

Melting Pot
The heat! The unbearable heat! Man, last night was extremely hot and humid. My ancestor must've lost his way when he left China - he prolly got off the wrong boat, or some pirates raided his transport frigate and he had to bail onto a piece of driftwood, letting the waves bring him here to Malaysia. I might be washing dishes now in America or Europe but at least it won't be so friggin hot! Even this morning's hike proved a killer, the hot blanket of air just sapped away all my energy.

There was a pleasant surprise when I reached my destination though, a stray dog who wagged its tail greeted us. After completing my customary rounds, it followed us down halfway. Cute thing, but how did it get up there in the first place? Must've been nuts to climb all the way up without the promise of food in the first place.

Monkey business was higher than normal - either its the mating season or just the hot weather that caused them to make such a ruckus so early in the morning.

Met an old uncle while we were on the way down, and he asked us whether there were anyone up there at the resting point. Upon hearing the negative, he plodded on with renewed vigour. Shortly afterwards, there were 3 nubile young things who were heading toward the same destination as the old man. Makes you wonder why he asked that particular question eh ;) I hope he packed at least 3 Viagra to handle the heat.

xXx-Box
Was watching a wee bit of Discovery Channel last night where they focused on Microsoft's XBox. It was an eye-opener - to see development teams thrash things out, crying, and laughing together in order to meet the expected dateline. I find European and American working ethics to be superior to that of Malaysians - when they are at work, they really are at work!

Everyone can diss the American educational and political system, but see what they have churned out from schools? Apart from the occasional psychos, everyone is given a free reign to think creatively. There are no hindrances, unlike our rigid 'memorisation' system. The person with the best memory usually ends up first in class, and is expected to become a highly-paid professional. Too bad the world doesn't work that way ;)

Brains matter, but guts matter more. I really admire people who have the balls to take calculated risks, irregardless of the result. They press onward for what they believe, and are unwavered by uncertainty. All pioneers have more balls than brains!

Headed over to Carrefour yesterday for a change of scenery. Went there to get an exercise bench but ended up buying all the ingredients to make a delectable meal of carbonara *slurp* The Carrefour there reminds me of the one at MidValley, cept they din have too many of them free sample stalls around, dang it! How to shop without being hungry and thirsty like that? Heh. The management must have been forewarned that Penangnites sniff out free stuff with an exceptionally high accuracy rate.

The trip ended on a sour note, as the cashier who handled a tin of spam made a loud, gasping sound, dropped the tin and chastised us for not knowing we're in Malaysia. She promptly closed the counter, and left to wash her hands (probably with boiling water and some Dettol for good measure). Its as absurd as me knowing that I shouldn't touch a hot kettle, but upon burning myself with it, I scold the person who boiled the water.

Legalism's a real bummer in this world, suppressing freedom with impunity.

ESR's Greatest Gamer-->Azn Pride!!
Well it goes without saying, SlayerS_BoxeR thrashed sk.Potti really badly in a one-sided final, and I really liked the following contrast of pictures. I'm biased due to the fact that I'm Azn, so all you imperialists can stuff it! :P

People behind Potti during a tournament (not necessarily watching him play, mind you)

They had to fit the rest of the spectators in a stadium to watch BoxeR's game

Rice, chopsticks, kimchi, swords - kanina, what is there not to love about being Azn? :D
Pant-ding
A big thank you to the co-author of Melor dan Bunga Telur's first post for the Easter greetings. Its my first ever! :D I love eggs...Hehehe!

What's up for grabs tonight? Chicken cordon-bleu, tandoori, wantan mee or curry mee? Let's see how far a budget of RM10 (for 2) can go.

Saturday's a-comin' up and there's tons to be accomplished tomorrow, hopefully various lubangs will open up within the coming months. My horses are already ramming themselves against the stable door, and should any door open later in the future, all I have left will be some bloody-faced carcasses, rotting and housing swarms of fly larvae. Reigning them in ain't exactly a walk among the roses :(

Good luck for ur final paper, David! Hope to see you soon!

!!!
Hot damn if Gus doesn't want his 2 free Tiesto tix, can he just pass it to someone else?

Another day passes by, and its all good. I hate incubating periods of any sort, but somehow that's how things work around here. More patience, Lord - more patience! A hearty meal of curry mee will certainly damage the readings of my blood pressure later this weekend, but who cares when it tastes so, so, good?

Down
The gauntlet is thrown! A young man, so full of anger, meets his compatriot halfway to pour out his grievances over some grain-based drinks. Knowing glances were exchanged, and a commitment was made. It is not a time for regrets - there just isn't any room for that emotion in this world.

I asked Uncle Sam yesterday what he'd do with RM3m, would he get a Ferarri? He told me yes, and he'll sell it off after a couple months because its a lousy car to drive. Never mind losing a few hundred thousand just to experience his dream. I had a similar idea to his, except for the selling part. How can one ever want to sell such a beauty unless you're wading knee-deep in a quagmire of debt? I sure as heck rather learn from other people's mistakes as my own are rather too costly. Here's to the future!

The return of the Amazonian
Amazonian's back, and she's brought along her unique brand of blurness, and tempered with a short fuse - everyone just steer clear of her! SMSed Melor this morning to do the coffee shop thing, but methinks dear Melor is still sleeping. Ah well, there's still another hour to wait for a reply.

Foogles plans to make a trip up north for some loving, and according to him, price is no object! How about the lovely Presidential Suite at 6* E&O? Well I will continue to skulk around for the best prices (read: cheap) for his faux leather wallet's sake. Its a thin line to thread, spending just enough money on one's woman to keep her happy at the same time not portraying the fact that deep down inside, you're a crummy chinaman who feels at home in a Pagoda singlet and Bata slippers.

Things have gotten a little challenging over the weekend, now there's even more stuff to think about! Are there any fig trees in Malaysia? I haven't really seen any of those around, and even if I did, I wouldn't be able to identify it even at the expense of my life.

Post-lunch today, managed to irritate the hair out of Amazonian, thus giving her that chracteristic super-curls. She's another phleg, and at times I don't know whether to laugh or to cry. Well she's heading back to the urban jungle tonight with Jason, and you guys can catch her at *THAT* shady part of Kajang.

Melor without the bunga telur
Had some really spicy Hokkien Mee for dinner last night - I'm not sure what the hawkeress put inside, but there was something missing in the soup, and I really can't put my finger on it.

The weird thing was, the beer at Sega's tasted sweet due to the soup's aftertaste lingering on my tongue. I confirmed that with Sekz. Light banter degenerated into another talk-cock session, further establishing the fact that most of the fun things in life aren't really important and yet we spend so much time on it. Romemz arrived with his muhibbah entourage of chickeroos but being the selfish bastard he is, introductions were non-existent :P It must be that orange shirt with floral prints!

Called Melor while he was updating his blog, and he promptly zipped over to our cosy little watering hole. There were no half-drunk uncles there last night, thank goodness, so we had a great time listening to Jay Chou including his dance remixes by DJ Taiko. At least 2 of us did anyways ;) Hopefully Melor will wake up in time to do the chicken rice thing - its been a while.

Another week's passed, and April is upon us! :D Man time is really zipping by quickly. Time to buck up and start attending to the important stuffs. Bah!
